Temporary accommodation is costing London councils, already creaking under financial pressures, around £4m per day. It’s unsustainable and as a member of Households in Temporary Accommodation APPG I submitted the following question to the Minister. 👇 Answer here: margaretmullane.co.uk/post/written-p…

🚨LAST DAY🚨 Amendment NC14 to the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill would allow a notification protocol supporting children in TA to become statutory. Has your MP signed it? Write to them TODAY: …seholdsintemporaryaccommodation.co.uk/safe-protocol/ Deadline is this afternoon when the House rises.

Update on the SAFE campaign! Thank you to our Chair Siobhain McDonagh, for your impassioned speech last night and to everyone who supported this amendment. We look forward to working with the Government on the SAFE Protocol.

The impact that temporary accommodation has on children's health and education can be life-changing. This report from Becky Johnson shows that more cross-departmental work is needed. We hope ministers take notice and act urgently.

A statement from our Chair Siobhain McDonagh on Housing, Communities & Local Government Committee's new report on the crisis of children in temporary accommodation. We are pleased to see that the report's recommendations, including a notification protocol, align with those proposed by the APPG. publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5901/cmse…

In her statement, Florence Eshalomi MP addressed the need for better data collection and sharing, to fully understand the health and educational impacts of child homelessness. The Housing, Communities & Local Government Committee's report recommends a formalised notification system, as campaigned for by our SAFE Protocol.

Yesterday we were pleased to elect our new officers: Josh Babarinde OBE MP, the Rt Hon. Andrew Lansley CBE and the Lord Balfe. We are looking forward to working with them to mitigate the impacts caused to households by the temporary accommodation crisis.

Thank you to everyone who attended the launch of Citizens UK & Trust for London’s new report on the crisis in temporary accommodation. It was inspiring to hear the powerful lived experience testimonies and discussion on how the report’s recommendations can be turned into reality.
