Take a bow Malcolm Noonan Incredible amount of progress & work done to protect and restore nature, 2 new national parks, marine protection increased, statutory Biodiversity Action Plan, revived the National Parks and Wildlife Service Hopefully a Seanad role now to continue that work. Vote1 for nature

âŠBT Young Scientistâ© is full of young brilliant minds with #Climate ideas, inventing, researching how things work. Good piece on how short term politics works & often fails the long term stuff âŠthese are the issues the new government needs to deal with irishtimes.com/opinion/2025/0âŠ

I did quite a bit on public transport improvements for #Wicklow but I didnât get a railway built from Bray to Glendalough! This is actually for a new Connecting Ireland bus route incl Roundwood, Laragh, Annamoe - consultation now open The Irish Sun nationaltransport.ie/news/nta-opensâŠ

Classifying as âstrategicâ doesnât confer advantage, SIDs still have to comply with planning regs, it just goes straight to ABP for similar but longer process. DAA can address invalidation reasons & reapply to FCC. Changing legislation would take longer. businesspost.ie/news/big-read-âŠ

This much-used cargo bike was stolen yesterday in Dun Laoghaire. There are very few of this model around so should be easy to spot. Reply/message if you have any leads & we will pass on to owner. My last field trip as Minister. The water was calm at first light as we headed out to the black islands on Lough Ree. Recently acquired by the state, the islands are being managed by Breeding Waders EIP Project to help revive numbers of our most endangered birds.

Delighted to attend the launch of âŠJoe McHughâ© book last night. One of the most decent and genuine Iâve met in political life. Looking forward to reading his Gaeilge learning journey as a newly appointed Minister BhĂ sĂ© alright! siopagaeilge.ie/products/beidhâŠ

Interesting & honest appraisal of housing - the complexities, competing interests, cost v supply, renters v owners, landlords, political soundbites, interest rates, capacity and a little on climate at the end. âIs there light at the end of the tunnel? Noâ podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/insâŠ

âŠMatt Cooperâ© writing about âŠBarry Andrews MEPâ© writing about a housing finance idea from âŠGreen Party Irelandâ©. (It didnât get as much attention as planning exemptions for back garden living) but I note the private investors donât like it đ

As the COP16 Biodiversity Conference resumes in Rome, we remain at war with nature. We need a meaningful debate in the Oireachtas to tackle biodiversity loss on an all-island basis to call a truce. Malcolm Noonan
