Excited to announce that the 661K resource is now live at Plos Biology PLOS Biology journals.plos.org/plosbiology/ar… We uniformly assembled, ran quality control and performed general characterisation on 661,405 bacterial genomes that were in the ENA at the end of November 2018.

The plasmid gene aac(6’)-Ib-cr confers 4x increase in MIC to cipro in strains already harbour resistant gyrA and parC mutations. This dual resistance combination shows strong association with emerging carbapenem resistant clones. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/AA…

We discussed shipping strains today and it was surprising to me how much of it is still done in LB agar stabs. That is risky if genomic integrity matters - see paper below and this short thread 🦠📬👇🏼. 1/4 bmcmicrobiol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

Very excited to share our work on NMEC led by Nhu Nguyen (under review by eLife). We highlight that even with appropriate antibiotic treatment, causative NMEC that resides intestinally might not be eliminated and can cause relapse. medrxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…
