Proud of the work done by Ashley Huber as part of the Fellows’ Pelvic Research Network, presented in the general session at #PFDWeek24. Women <40 have excellent outcomes for SUI treatment with both sling and periurethral bulking, but sling cure rates are better.

Interesting work by Dr Bailey Clarke MedStar Washington showing that longer length of antibiotics for UTI prevention for office Botox was not associated with lower UTI rates. #PFDWeek24

Proud of the work done by Nicole Meckes, MD and Brigid Mumford, presented at #PFDWeek2024! UPMC Magee UroGynecology

Chronic anticoagulation is associated with an increased risk of postoperative complications after colpocleisis, including readmission, cardiac complications, transfusion and hematoma. Brigid Mumford Mary Ackenbom MD, MSc UPMC Magee UroGynecology #PFDWeek2024

Incredible talk by Dr. Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew at #PFDWeek2024 on disparities in urogynecologic care. “Racism touches all of our lives. It is in us, within us, around us.” “We must dismantle structural racism in healthcare to achieve equitable outcomes for all.”

Very informative panel with Amy Park, MD moderating on artificial intelligence use in a clinical setting. AI is here and it’s important for clinicians to know its value and pitfalls #PFDWeek2024 #AI AUGS Whitney Hendrickson, MD Jim Hokanson, PhD Giulia M. Ippolito, MD, MS

Incredible work by Cassandra Kisby, MD MS on the use of exosomes for reducing risk of vaginal mesh exposure in a porcine model. Looking forward to seeing this as a potential therapy we can offer patients in the future. Congratulations on winning best Basic Science paper at #PFDWeek24!

Proud of the work done by Dr. Luke King through Fellows’ Pelvic Research Network presented at #PFDWeek2024. He showed that postoperative antibiotics after battery placement for sacral neuro modulation was not associated with a decreased risk of postop infection. Rates of infection are overall low.

There are over 10,000 nerves to the clitoris! Amazing talk by Rachel S. Rubin, MD on the clitoris- what we know and the huge knowledge gaps that exist on this under-studied organ. #PFDWeek2024

New #PublicationAlert: In the Mary Ann Liebert Inc Journal of Women's Health, Drs. Mary Ackenbom MD, MSc and Sarah Napoe MD of Magee-Womens Research Institute write about crucial considerations on race/ethnicity and incidence of pelvic organ prolapse in midlife women. More: bit.ly/406jRTk

Proud of the Pitt Crew that attended #AGS25. Fantastic work, Mwamba, Lauren and Nikki! Mary Ackenbom MD, MSc

Inspiring talks from Lona Mody, MD, M.Sc and Kevin High highlighting implementation science at the Med and Surg Specialties Section Meeting at #AGS25

Dr. Jennifer Wu, prior president of #AUGS, gave the Berger Lecture at #UVA OBGYN and shared her inspirational story on how she became a leader at UNC Obstetrics and Gynecology, her institution, and nationally. So thankful for her generous mentorship which she has gifted to so many!
