It was a pleasure to work with Birkbeck, University of London to record this short video, giving 3 pieces of advice for anyone navigating a career in science: 1. Find a good mentor. 2. Identify what you don't want... 3. Be true to yourself, trust yourself, and just go for it! #WomenInScience

Super grateful to be awarded a Biochemical Society travel grant to attend #BNA2023 British Neuroscience Association in April!! ☺️🧠 Here's to a big leap of faith/bit of a career jump into the neuroscience world. Looking forward to a future in this field and excited to see what's out there! 😊🤞

Day 2 at #BNA2023! My 🧠 is already full from day 1. The breadth of research and emphasis on credibility/reproducibility in neuroscience is incredible - very exciting times to be here! Very grateful and thankful to Biochemical Society for the travel grant to attend in-person ☺️

As my group is slowly approaching size > 1, it's time for the new lab website: volkovlab.com. Will be soon looking for a postdoc and a technician (both funded by Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research for 3 years). While the HR approve the official ads, feel free to reach out! RT is highly appreciated

Hey X-twitter world! Excited to be at #SfN2023 in D.C. this year! Although must admit, the jingling badges are an interesting choice, it feels like Christmas in the seminar room 😂 If anyone is around, give me a shout and we can go be excited about #neuroscience together! ☺️

In our new #cryoFIB #cryoET preprint we imaged actin filaments in very fast moving Plasmodium falciparum sporozoites. We shed some light on the mechanism of gliding motility and find unexpectedly long and large actin bundles in the cytoplasm and nucleus! biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

My first-author paper is out today Nature Communications ! We investigated how oligodendrocytes produce myelin. Using volume EM, we characterized oligodendroglial ER (magenta) in developing myelin and explored nonvesicular lipid transport involved. #lipidtime doi.org/10.1038/s41467… (1/n)
