I need to go on a little rant today. I applied for an Alzheimer's Association "New to the Field" grant and one of the reviewers tanked it because... and I'm not kidding... I didn't have any experience in Alzheimer's Disease.

About that new Nature paper with 45 supplements: It's all lovely research, I am sure, but who can peer review or just read and digest this? This feels like a film director announcing their new 15h long movie.

They know what they did to you. When they’re afraid of the consequences they will: First, see how much you remember by pretending they don’t. Second, downplay its impact or your reaction to it. Lastly, threaten, blame, attempt to silence you. They…know…what…they…did.

After giving a talk at a conference recently, I received an email from an unfamiliar senior professor in the audience remarking that my “look has extremely improved over the years” from “nerdy lab mouse” to “a touch of upper class.” 1/4

Full translation Note the use of the word "geil," which can be used as a synonym for "awesome" in an informal setting but literally means "horny." 4/4

When a woman posted on TikTok about her acts of microfeminism--like addressing a female assistant ahead of a male CEO in an email--some men were so triggered they said she was a misandrist, doing witchcraft & attacked her appearance (fat, ugly, old). npr.org/2024/12/04/g-s…
