All the best to our former visiting student Giovanni Centonze from Università di Bologna AsymmetricSynthesisLab Giorgio Bencivenni who today finished his research period with us and comes back to Italy to complete his PhD. Giovanni did a great job with us and it was truly a pleasure to host him!
🚨 New group member 👩🔬 Welcome to Roberta Coccia who recently joined us as a 6-month visiting PhD student from Università di Bologna Melchiorre Group ⚗️💡
🚨👩🔬Welcome to Cherry Marsh who joined us as a summer research student from University of Oxford ⚗️💡
Had a great time Università degli Studi dell'Aquila , so many enthusiastic students, glad to contribute to inspire them with discussions and teaching activities about photochemistry. A big thanks to Carlone Research Group for the organisation and, oh man, the arrosticini were absolutely fabulous.
Happy to share our latest work, a practical and iterative protocol for carboxylic acid homologation, today online in J. Am. Chem. Soc.. Well done to Emilie Wheatley and George for their exceptional work on this. pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…
All the best to our visiting PhD student Roberta Coccia from Melchiorre Group who will be returning home to continue her studies Università di Bologna. Roberta did a great job with us UoN Chemistry. Picture from her farewell meal (Robi first left in pic).
This week, for our UoN Chemistry seminars, we hosted Paolo Melchiorre Melchiorre Group who gave a brilliant talk about combining photochemistry with organocatalysis, transition metal catalysis and biocatalysis to expand the boundaries of traditional asymmetric catalysis.
Last week we said goodbye to our visiting PhD student Francesca Sardelli from Università di Pisa. Francesca did a great job in our group and we wish her all the best for her future career! 🙂
Honoured to receive such a prestigious recognition. Thanks #RSCprizes and special thanks to our funders Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, AstraZeneca, The Royal Society, The Leverhulme Trust, European Commission, UoN Chemistry, and to all the present and past members of my research group. rsc.org/standards-and-…
Proud that our latest work was published in Angewandte Chemie and selected for #AngewandteChemieNovit. Well done to Subhasis Paul, Adam Richardson & Louis Buck and our Università di Bologna & Università di Pisa visiting PhDs Roberta (Melchiorre Group), Giovanni (Giorgio Bencivenni) & Francesca (Mauro Pineschi)
Honoured to receive the 2025 Philip Leverhulme Prize leverhulme.ac.uk/news/2025PLP Thanks to The Leverhulme Trust for this recognition and for their continuous support. Grateful to my amazing team and to Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, The Royal Society, UoN Chemistry, AstraZeneca & GSK for their continued support
