Expedition Tourism. In this region of our country a polar bear can pop out of a valley in a moment, and the sea water will paralyze us in seconds with its extreme cold. Travelling safely here is an adventure that stimulates the senses in addition to the sights. #BeecheyIsland

Generations. Everything is shifting so quickly the further north you go in Canada. Transitions in culture between the youth and the elderly are as extreme as the effects of climate change in this landscape that fosters interdependence for survival. Kangiqsualujjuaq, Nunavik.

Like the story of creation, this fingertip of ice touches the source from which it came. H20 is an incredible molecule. Only water is less dense in its solid form than its liquid origin, enabling ice to float. #arctic #sea #ice Adventure Canada

Aurora Borealis over Baffin Bay. There isn't anything quite like northern lights to elevate our spirits. I never know when the next opportunity will arise to make a tweet so I hope that you all have a wonderful time with family and friends over the holidays!

Tonight on our last evening in Chicago I set out with my iPhone camera to walk the streets of downtown Chicago at midnight. I crisscrossed the multiple draw bridges enjoying the views and looking for reflections in the river. #Chicago #riverwalk #skyline

This island contains the largest island within an island within an island. It is Canada's second largest island and the world's eighth largest island, which makes it also just slightly larger than the island of Great Britain. It is Victoria Island, in the Arctic archipelago.

Photography helps interesting light shine. Here sunlight breaks through an autumn storm along the eastern coastline of #Baffin #Island. No matter what the weather conditions are these #fjords along Baffin Bay are exceptionally beautiful in their ruggedness.Parks Canada

Continuing with my phone camera series from Chicago this cloudy day provided even lighting during a December river architectural cruise. Chicago, I'm told, is the birthplace of high rise architecture. In 1871 one third of this city burned, giving rise to the term Second City.

Although captured a few years ago now this moment along Lake O'Hara is still strongly etched in my mind's eye. This year it was on the cover of one of Canadian Geographic's Calendars and two new prints will be auctioned to support the Calgary Youth Orchestra.
