Hawkers have increasingly occupied the Grand Arcade at the Oberoi Grand, one of Kolkata’s most iconic luxury hotels and heritage properties. Attempts to declare the area a "no-vending zone" have largely failed, reflecting a broader rise in hawkers across the city.

Isn’t it a shame that Howrah Station, nearing 100 years of existence, still lacks a mere foot overbridge connecting all the platforms? In case of sudden platform changes, like the chaos during Kumbh in Delhi, imagine the risk. God forbid. When will the babus open their eyes?

Yes, this is Kolkata. Our infrastructure may be old, but we live peacefully, free from language imposition or forced changes. People rush to help if you’re lost. There’s negligible daylight crimes, & the needy can still eat for ₹50 a day. This is Tagore’s land. Aa kar toh dekho!

After years of filth, activists & the Green Tribunal have razed down the three major dumping sites at Bandhaghat (in front of Sarvalom), Naya Mandir & Hooghly Dock. These open yards were mosquito breeding grounds and caused serious health and aesthetic issues on Riverside Road!

Most of these restaurants have been running for years or decades. Shutting them down means massive job losses, crores in wasted investments & hardly any good places left to eat. It feels no different than shooing the Tata Nano plant in Singur.. We still face the consequences!
