Somehow, we never have enough money for health care, education, or housing, but always have more than enough money for a bloated and wasteful Defense Department that cannot even pass an independent audit. It’s time to change our national priorities NOW.

What happens to the children who survive an attempt to erase them? What happens after their homes are bombed, their parents are martyred, and we’ve decided they’re not worth saving? What happens when they survive despite us? Who do we think children who survive genocide become?

Friendly reminder that being poor doesn’t mean a kid is unloved. Having a parent who doesn’t have the time or resources to be involved with school doesn’t mean a kid is unloved. Having a parent who is in jail, an addict, or otherwise struggling doesn’t mean the kid is unloved.

If you truly want to love and support a struggling student, you have to care for and support the adults in their life who are undoubtedly loving the kid in the best way they can, from their own capacity and lived experience. You owe their family compassion without judgement.

Why are schools and districts more concerned with compliance and due process of special education and less concerned with the actual academic outcomes of special education students?

Why do you think so many kids & adults are addicted to video games? Could it be that this is the only arena where they can struggle through problem solving? Kids don't sit down to study manuals or listen to lectures about video games, they jump in & begin & enjoy the challenge.

I can both know, intellectually, that a student’s behavior is not about me and still, emotionally, feel disappointed, hurt, and disrespected.
