I'm pleased to finally share the CfP for the British Association for Romantic Studies 2025 Conference, 'Romantic (Un)Consciousness', which I've been working on with my co-organisers Cleo O’Callaghan Yeoman & Kate Nankervis. I'd particularly encourage submissions from anyone working on French & German Romanticism.

Worth tweeting again because it's actual evidence: poorer kids value poetry more than their wealthy peers. The assumption that private schools innately nurture better or higher-quality reading practices is prejudicial slop.

I was trying to think of something sparky to say about this but it’s just very sad. My generation came of age in a Europe where most of us could travel freely, live and work where we wanted. That expansive idea of Europe is fading now. Our children’s lives will be very different.

For my international colleagues who are wondering what the heck is going in in the Netherlands: Dutch Academia is facing the largest budget cuts since the 1980s. Programs will disappear, work load will go up, students will be penalised. It's grim 1/x

Niche moan: but when did Fitzcarraldo Editions stop putting the source titles in the colophons of translated works? Drive Your Plow provides the Polish title in the paratext but it's missing from The Empusium so I had to Google it!
