In last night's debate Trump claimed once again that Russia wouldn't have invaded Ukraine while he was president. Mike Pompeo has also repeated it. So I'm re-posting this thread on just how effective Trump was at dealing with Russia (tl;dr: he was great - for Putin).

I don't think this slow, public choreography of decision to relax constraints on Ukraine's use of Western weapons is helpful. Just let Ukraine get on with it. ATACAMs were sent without fanfare. Russia was left to discover this by their use. Same principle applies. A public
