NEW: Conservative Central Suffolk and North Ipswich MP Dan Poulter defects to Labour. Cites state of the NHS.

Crossing the floor from Conservative to Labour or vice versa is rare. Only the second MP to do so in this parliament.

🚨🚨 This is a quite significant development for the EU's external relations. Association agreements normally include privileged links with third countries and deeper forms of integration. Key content here is the following: 🧵

One often hears this piece of 'wisdom' about it being preferable to have someone inside the tent pissing out rather than outside the tent pissing in.

The problem is the individual inside the tent can piss over everyone else in it.

Very good Britain after Brexit Peter Foster briefing yesterday, particularly this. Had been meaning to write about how EU approach is dated, and several folk including Jill Rutter have suggested how UK could handle EU relations better than single lead... ft.com/content/358f3e…

Far be it for me to challenge the great Sir John Curtice, but I think this theory still presupposes the UK will leap from roughly where it is now to Rejoin.

I don't think it will - it'll move closer. And paradoxically, moving closer might lessen support for Rejoin.
