We're sharing some additional context for @gannett's statements during this morning's Q1 2024 earnings call.

Gannett #ArtificialIntelligence simply cannot do what local journalists do. Yet Gannett has backtracked on protections against #AI-driven layoffs.

Why is Newspaper Guild of Rochester fighting for AI protection in our contract? Because AI is already being used to generate (garbage) content at Gannett properties. This isn’t a far-off future concern; this dystopian news landscape is already here.
