I'll only beg you for RTs once very 3-7 years, and today's the day - on this one pls: x.com/BreachWizards/… I've been working on this for almost half my career, and it all rides on how today goes. It means the world to us if you can grab it today specifically. 🧡🧙‍♂️

The USDA funded research on the sex life of the screwworm. Screwworms were a cattle parasite in the southern US. That researcher developed the sterile insect release technique, and, by 1966, the U.S. was declared screwworm free -- saving ~$20B for US cattle producers. 3/

Your attention span isn’t fixed. It increases with practice. Evidence: After 20min sessions solving cognitively challenging problems (10-20hrs total), students show significant gains in sustained focus and test scores. Like physical stamina, mental stamina requires exercise.

A friend of mine has skin cancer and was about to start a clinical trial at MD Anderson after his other treatments did not work. Trump's decision to temporarily halt funding for medical research also applies to clinical trials. His treatment is now canceled.

"But that darn Elon just went and tried it and it worked, and they cancelled our WHOLE program!" Here's an interesting story about how Elon Musk ambitiously skipped to the last step when trying to land on a barge with a rocket, proving supersonic retro-propulsion worked.

The best way for the US to stay ahead of China is to poach their talent. It’s reasonable to target individuals who pose a real security risk, but it’s self-sabotage to go after anyone in a broad field like AI. ~90% of Chinese STEM PhDs stay in the US and help us keep an edge.

Census says less than 30% of STEM degree holders work in STEM. But when you actually ask STEM grads "does your job relate to your degree?" 79% say yes, the same rate as non-STEM grads. People are writing books about failed STEM investments that are based on bad data.

I'm out with a big new report this morning on the state of Ohio's high-tech workforce. Silicon Heartland, as it's called, goes deep on the Midwest's storied engineering talent pipelines and offers some suggestions for drawing on this tradition to aid reindustrialization.
