This is likely our last Monday Morning Legislative Preview of the 2024 #IDLeg Session. We’re at recess until midday Wednesday and just have a couple budget bills to wrap up. Barring an act of God, we will finish our work this week and adjourn sine die.

So glad to be back at school with the kids. As part of my job, I help plan STEM learning with the students. Thanks to a grant from POWER Engineers, we were able to provide solar eclipse glasses for each student. It was awesome to witness this extraordinary phenomenon with them!

Summer EBT is a common sense, compassionate way to meet nutritional needs of low income kids over the summer when school is out. So disturbing that 25 out of 28 Senate Republicans voted to kill this program. The Majority party is really out of touch with the majority of Idahoans.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend Representative Sue Chew, a beloved servant of the people of Idaho. Representative Chew was a tireless advocate for Idahoans in need of a champion.

Representative Sue Chew was a bright light and an unrelenting force for good. Her tireless advocacy on health care, labor, disability rights, and civil rights issues has made our state a better place. We grieve alongside the many people Rep. Chew impacted throughout her career.

Our hearts are broken at the loss of our colleague, ally, and friend, Sue Chew. Sue walked the talk in every aspect of her life. She always put people first and modeled for all of us the importance of humility and dedication. She will be missed. ❤️

Sue Chew, my venerable colleague at the Statehouse, has passed. Sue had a huge heart. She relentlessly knocked doors, not just to ask for votes but to ask how she could serve—even washing their dishes (which she really did at least once). She will be missed.

I first met Sue over 25 years ago in a women's studies class. Her advocacy for underrepresented groups rang loud and clear then, just as we all knew her to do in her legislative work.

I am proud to have served with Rep. Sue Chew. She was committed to engaging her community, knocking doors, and youth involvement. She continued to serve and advocate for our community up until the very end. Rep. Chew, you will always be remembered!

I join my colleagues and running mates in condemning unequivocally the attack on candidate and former President Trump. I’m praying for any victims and for the health and safety of the former President. Violence is never the answer. @RuchtiJames Rep. Nate Roberts

Violence is not the answer to political disagreements. I am deeply troubled by this attack and my thoughts and prayers are with former President Trump and those that may have been injured.

Miranda 🖤🤍💜 I have seen it with my own eyes too many times. The system hurts SA victims including especially children far more that it ever helps them. That is why we don’t report.

It was exciting to go vote this morning! Polls are open from 8am to 8pm. Seeing neighbors and folks I knocked during GOTV was a wonderful way to start the day. Thank you to our poll workers, election staff, and volunteers who help ensure Idaho's free and fair elections process.
