Hello, I am a postdoc in John Wallingford's John Wallingford lab at UT Austin.
After 20 years focused on PCP & actomyosin in convergent extension, I'm thrilled for our new thrust to understand cell adhesion in this process. Two great papers from a massive co-lab between two fantastic postdocs, Robert J. Huebner and Shinuo Weng are up now on bioRxiv.
This work led Robert J. Huebner to re-explore the poorly defined catenin, Arvcf. Remarkably, he and Shinuo Weng found that Arvcf is not required for cell intercalation per se, but is required for robust force generation by the converging/extending tissue: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
We are very excited to share our preprint: Mechanics of cell integration in vivo ⚙️🐸🔬🧮. Wonderful collaboration with @DoostmohammadiL and Aboutaleb Amiri 🧮. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…, So, how do cells navigate through complex 3D environments? 🧵1/14⬇️
HUGE day for Robert J. Huebner and Shinuo Weng and the whole Wallingford lab as their companion papers drop today in Developmental Cell and Cell Reports! I'll tweet out separate threads for each in a bit, but for now, I'll just let two awesome papers speak for themselves.
...and we're on COVER Developmental Cell! So stoked for Robert J. Huebner and Shinuo Weng for their great work on this paper. cell.com/developmental-…
