Id say a few things: 1) the tubing had good elongation properties 2) Brian Schnee is an amazing fabricator 3) in this instance maybe the front cage gussets should go all the way to the top cause it probably would have broke the cage upright on tubing with lesser elongation

I was just telling one of my fabricators that the elongation properties of the tubing in that car made all the difference. Had it been a harder batch of tubing it most likely would have broke like you are talking about. Better elongation properties make the tubing more elastic
