I'm a Lived Experience Mentor with Probation, Ex Prisoners highlight that the staff on Prison Landings these days at 18 are to young to be running a wing, These inexperienced staff are being bullied or paid to bring in phones etc etc, It's a very worrying time to be in Prison.

The case of Lee Ashby who started out with a 14 month IPP But has served 20 years initially seems bad but I've researched his case, He's been released by The Parole Board three times and recalled to Prison, When he is released again he clearly needs help readjusting to society

The Ministry of Justice needs to work out how to release IPPs safely Into society after many years of imprisonment There needs to be proper measures put in place as many of these people MAY NOT cope if they are released into the outside world without help and guidance

There should be more input by those with Lived Experience of the Prison system, Instead of EXPERTS who've never even been in Prison deciding what works to rehabilitate and stop offending, Those who've turned their lives around would offer valuable input on what actually works

MANY IPPs are documented in Prison reports as damaged mentally because of years in Prison on small Tarrifs As a resolution the system MAY decide to detain them instead on Hospital Orders for treatment This keeps them in Prison waiting for Hospital places for an indefinite time

The Government in the UK Is planning to introduce exclusion zones for Offenders who've committed serious crimes, If you have nothing to hide what's the issue as it prevents the Victim or Victims of the crime from bumping into the Offender

Alll IPP/DPP Prisoners EITHER: Have a history of Recalls Or Mental Health Issues due to sentence length Or Show poor behaviour due to Mental Health Issues Or Haven't done Sentence Plan Targets It's not right but ANY of the above stop release by The Parole Board due to RISK

This is good news for those with Criminal Records or on Police Bail or on Parole Licence, Because if a false allegation is made the camera footage can be checked to prove they weren't in the area at the time

Prison courses ONLY work when the individual is ready to change I found reciting Parrot fashion what I learnt was pointless, For me Cognitive Self Change Courses worked, As I needed to evidence that I'd changed my thinking towards Offending BEFORE ANY possibility of release

I got released in 2017 NO SEX OFFENCES Reality for myself and MOST long term Prisoners is we won't get employed, My DWP work coach suggested LWCRA She'd seen the effort I'd put in and how getting rejections had effected me mentally I'm medicated and considered to ill to work
