What's our Medieval Women item of the day? This poignant document records the sale of Marta, an enslaved Russian woman, in the marketplace at Venice in 1450. She is described as aged 22, of sound mind and body, and free of epilepsy. A haunting survival. medievalwomen.seetickets.com

Finally visited St. Mary’s Lead today. It was bathed in a gorgeous, early evening light. Hard to imagine that one of the bloodiest battles ever fought on England’s soil, The Battle of Towton was fought a mile or so from this place in 1461
