The emerging order isn’t twentieth-century fascism. It’s something we haven’t seen before—a new configuration of forces that demands urgent critique and analysis on its own terms. And people should be honest about that.

What we’re seeing is the wholesale collapse of Anglo-American liberalism and the left, esp. after the latter became indistinguishable from the former in all the ways that matter in 2020. This is terrible in the short term but opens up a space for a new left, which must be open.
