The NIH said Friday night that it would slash support for indirect costs on all existing and future grants to 15% trib.al/G4U6pUK

Tony Zador (@tonyzador) 's Twitter Profile Photo

apparently the richest man in the world is confused & thinks 60% indirect means that 60% of a grant goes to the university. in reality 60% indirect means that 60%/(100% + 60%) = 37% of the grant goes to the university consistent w/private companies that get govt $$ like SpceX

Massive NIH cuts to research infrastructure threaten the foundation of U.S. research—putting our future at risk. We need innovation in funding, not dismantling our research engine. My take in STAT: statnews.com/2025/02/08/nih…

In 2014 when I cared for Ebola patients in West Africa, there were no vaccines or treatments Now, we’ve got both All FDA approved and ready in the event of an outbreak here or abroad And we have them largely because of NIH funding and research support Just sayin

Funny- the $4B they want to save is the same amount SpaceX got in gov't contracts. Even paid the SpaceX CEO $4M! Rockets might be cool and all, but if choosing between rockets and life-saving medicine..You know, maybe the rich guy who wants to play with rockets should pay himself

America's biomedical ecosystem has thrived on: 1 NIH funding for basic research 2 Welcoming environment for global talent 3 Entrepreneurial culture that turns innovations into cures Gov't policies are taking a sledgehammer to all of this Ultimately harming the American people
