Dear Thalassemia Societies,Govt. Officials, Patient Advocates&Warriors. As we gather on the eve of World Thalassemia Day, we come together to celebrate the incredible strength of thalassemia patients &their families, while also reaffirming our dedication to improving their lives.

World Thalassemia Day2025 highlights the struggles of individuals living with thalassemia,including societal stigma, inadequate support & emotional turmoil.These struggles are exacerbated by social exclusion, economic hardships with much more difficulties in day to day lifestyle

The World Thalassemia Day held in Anandpur on 8th May was observed with a sense of dismay under the initiation of Thalassemia Asss. Pres. Ratikanta Pothal, all members expressed their collective dissatisfaction with health department's apathy&Non implications of NHM guidlines

Apathy towards thalassemics in Odisha isn't confined to Kendujhar. NHM guidelines are ignored & patients lack access to safe blood,quality medication & social security schemes. These gaps should be ruled out to ensure 31k thalassemics a quality life care & support they deserve

Odisha govt is not utilising the funds properly for blood transfusion and iron chelating drug,day care centres and hematology dept for thalassemia sickle cell patients. CMO Odisha Health ministry of odisha govt. should implement it as soon as possible in all DHH of odisha. (1/4)

It is imperative for the state to ensure optimal utilization of allocated funds to provide comprehensive care for thalassaemia patients. Access to regular BT as needed.Adequate diagnostic and treatment facilities.Efficient management & establishment of Day Care Centres.
