I haven’t read the paper yet. Honestly, it will take SA about 15-20 years if we try be optimistic about being on somewhat on the same level as China. But it could also, realistically, take 40-50 years to have things together like China. It depends how you want to look at this.

My reading list on greening structural change for this year's African Programme on Rethinking Development Economics in Johannesburg, with 11 African authors (out of 18). So if you're teaching the topic, there is a wide range of African & global south perspectives to pick from.

Are these trade-offs carved in stone? Though ridden with immense difficulties, we have to transform world systems to enable pathways that move beyond the zero-sum relationships in this trilemma

My new chapter with Carlota Perez in The Oxford Handbook on the Greening of Economic Development. We argue that the green transformation is not an add-on to development - it is a new techno-economic trajectory reshaping industry and innovation. doi.org/10.1093/oxford…

YES. only understanding that 'green' is not a technological revolution like ICT, will we realise that it depends on governments having a clear strategy, with policies that will make green investment and innovation more profitable than the other options
