Around now, 80 years ago, the first Allied troop convoys begin to leave England’s south coast ports. This is about 24 hours before the first Allied troops will land in Normandy from the sea. Some ships need to set off early due to their slow speed. #DDay80

Great to kick off this years Vaisakhi celebrations @Gurdwara Sahib Leicester! So encouraging to speak to so many young Sikh Air Cadets and so many others interested in joining or just taking an interest in what we do. Reflex/coordination game was a sure fire hit with everyone!

Have to mention Irene from today’s Vaisakhi event - this amazing lady spent 16 months in India and lived 6 of those with a Sikh family in Amritsar - there in 1966 she was given a Kara (on of the sacred 5 Ks) and she had kept it on ever since! #respect VaisakhiLDN Defence Sikh Network UK
