Props 6 and 36 both going the wrong way - and 36 being the biggest vote getter of everything on the ballot - is CA's longtime reactionary lean on criminal justice reasserting itself. Ugly.

Your "the one certain thing Harris should've done to win, but blew it by not doing" is bullshit*. There was no simple trick or pathway. This was a deep and multifactored loss. *unless it is 'not have Trump on the ballot'

Blunt truth: Median American voters don't care about foreign policy in presidential elections. Maybe they did smidge during the Cold War, but nowadays it doesn't matter but for the US having troops somewhere in an active war zone.

One thing that Trump manages to do to great effect, that I don't think literally any other candidate could ever get away with, is voicing some degree of stake on nearly every side of an issue, so that people can project him as being in agreement with whatever side of it they have

One of the recurring disappointments of my working life has been seeing friends out of work and not being able give them any good job leads. I've been able to get exactly 1 person a job lead that paid off in 30 years.
