Absolutely have to call-out Isobel Oakeshott. To say benefit claimants are 'parasites', sit on the sofa, drive their 'free motability' is completely outrageous. At Scope we call out ableism. Call out discrimination. And to not let language like this go unchecked. Shame.

I think Isabel Oakeshott does know Motability Operations cars aren’t free. It’s a charity that allows disabled people to lease cars, mobility scooters, or powered wheelchairs by using some or all of the mobility part of their benefit. You have to have enough points to qualify.

as we are in the festive season, i’d encourage anyone that knows someone with a hearing loss to make conscious efforts to keep them included in the festivities. if you’re not quite sure how to do that, ask them. whilst deaf people are constantly providing tips, it’s better to ask
