This rule that broadcasters shouldn't cover the election while people are voting on polling day is rubbish, a relic from the dinosaur age of the 1950s. People have been voting by post since Tuesday 11 June, at rate of about 400,000 a day on average. Why no broadcast ban then?

I really hope the big story of today isn't voter ID and massive queues of people who have been turned away. For most people, all they can use is a passport of driving license, or a Voter Authority Certificate. Some will have none of these.

Surprised there haven't been many "Just turned up for my first day as Crowdstrike's PR, can't wait to see what the day holds." jokes
