Is the COVID-19 pandemic still impacting software development, as @[email protected] and Sebastian Baltes found in 2020? Our study launched last week and responses are flowing in, but more are needed! If we reach 200 responses, we will donate $500 to an OSS project. softwareimprovementgroup.com/resources/pand…

I always thought of a "climate refugee" as a person immigrating to my area. I never thought I'd *be* a climate refugee. And yet here we are.

ICSE My impression from Twitter is that the acceptance rate at ICSE'24 (first round) is <6%, substantially below the norm for the venue. Can the PC chairs comment on this? Were the submissions substantially worse than normal?

AI class project suggestion: make a deepfake sextape featuring every member of parliament and send it to their offices. Tell them they have 30 days to address this AI shitshow or you'll release it across "the dark web." 🙃

'How can you discuss construct validity if you haven't defined any constructs?' - paraphrasing Dag Sjøberg presenting Improving the Reporting of Threats to Construct Validity @ #EASE2023

"Continuing with traditional peer review is scientifically preposterous and morally unconscionable" —@[email protected] at #ease2023 😲🤯☠️

For EASE 2025’24 I humbly request that @[email protected] & Dag Sjøberg run an interactive session: people bring their papers, the threats to validity section (& construct validity) are discussed in small groups (maybe using a checklist?), and improvements are shared with everyone.

@MonniauxD Le thread par @[email protected] sur Mastodon : @seresearchers today at #EASE2023 I learned that CPU time is not always a good proxy for energy consumption in mobile apps because mobiles have both efficient and performance cores, so it depends which cores are being used.

I've been to the front of Kia Canada's online queue to order an EV9 three times now and the system's bugged out each time and kicked me to the back of the queue. Now it says there's 50,000 people behind me. Riiiiight.

On Feb 20 my sister, Melissa, was struck by an SUV breaking her pelvis in 3 places, possibly ending her career in veterinary medicine. I know times are tight for many but if you can spare a few dollars some of her friends have set up a go fund me: gofundme.com/f/melissa-ralp…
