I had so much fun today at New Hope seeing the school spirit and judging holiday decorations on classroom doors! As a kid, I really enjoyed going there for part of elementary school. Thank you for having me back.

In my former high school, on my great-grandfather’s Bible, I took the oath to serve the people. It is an honor to be your North Carolina Representative for District 24. Thank you, Wilson and Nash counties.

I was proud to join the MLK Jr. Commission and members of the Wilson community at this morning’s breakfast. We celebrated this year’s inspiring local scholarship recipients. As the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, we must “never lose infinite hope.”

As another round of winter weather is making its way towards the eastern part of our state, please make sure you are monitoring conditions. Staying safe and warm must be our top priority.

It was a joy to listen and learn about NC education priorities with the Hunt Institute this weekend. I know that Gov. Hunt is proud of this bipartisan group who will work together for our children’s future!

I am excited to announce my committee assignments and get to work on behalf of all of House District 24.

Yesterday was a fantastic day for Wilson County and Eastern NC! The J&J facility is transformational for our community. I’m grateful to the leaders that have worked for so long to pave the way for this type of project and I’m proud to be on the team to keep moving us forward!

This month we recognize all who have served in our nation’s armed forces. Thank you for your service, your dedication to our country will never be forgotten.

I just voted for the budget in the NC House because we have to prioritize education and that means raising teacher pay. While I don’t support everything in the budget, I will continue to work across the aisle to move our state forward.

We pause today to reflect on those that didn’t make it home. May this Memorial Day be a day of remembrance for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation and its people.

It was an honor to welcome NCDPI Superintendent Mo Green again to Wilson this week! There are fantastic public school choices in our community – we must continue to champion the power of public education.

Yesterday Soldiers and Airmen from the NC National Guard came to the General Assembly for their Operation Old North State. I was glad to show them around the House floor and talk a little about this year’s budget.

I was so proud to join Governor Josh Stein Josh Stein and Attorney General Jeff Jackson for the bill signing of HB 50 which supports our law enforcement. I am committed to supporting our local law enforcement.

I am going to do all I can at the state level to protect the children and families that I serve.
