I cannot recommend this book highly enough. The contributions are full of insight -- they are all knowledgeable and carefully argued -- with a rich diversity of perspectives. The introduction by Luke Sheahan is masterful. If you are interested in free speech, read this book.

Looking forward to talking about the Act at the PPE conference at KCL tomorrow. I'll explain why HEFSA and RA24 aren't just enforcement tools for existing duties but a decisive break from the ECHR, and a potential revolution in England's free speech landscape. Piers Benn manwithoutqualities

This is an excellent, thorough piece. I am delighted to be joining its author Abhishek Saha Andrew Irvine and manwithoutqualities Leslie Marsh tomorrow on a panel on free speech, at the PPE conference at KCL, where we shall trash it all out!

Yes, excellent piece, though not always easy. I'm slightly ashamed to say that I don't dare post it on FB. Too many academics there...

A great sadness of the past few years is that those I expected to stand up for freedom of speech/expression -actual writers - with honorable exceptions simply have not. Do these fools think their own liberty is guaranteed? Look around the world, you complete fools.

Happy Monday to free speech people everywhere. What an amazing innovation free societies were. What amazing success it has brought. So many people living happy lives. Don't let anyone tell you, left or right, that freedom-culture is part of an oppressor/oppression narrative.

Required reading. Some principals/wardens/tutors do well and try and understand what it is to be young, but tickbox “mental health” provisions are no excuse for this bloodless loneliness
