Hundreds line Omagh’s high street for a rally called ‘No going back’ It’s to call for an end to violence and sectarian conflict in NI and comes following the shooting of DCI John Caldwell on Wednesday.

I rarely write passionately Here’s an exception I hope it’s passion driven by evidence but due to the weight of evidence I do feel strongly about it To be clear, no animosity to authors of the recent editorial, but I believe they hold the wrong view! …-publications.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

The RECOVERY trial helped save >1 million lives Here, we reflect on what it felt like to see results for the first treatment. But most remarkable are the comments from frontline NHS staff & patients. Without them none of this would’ve been possible. youtu.be/uqzPlYdRxVs

#teamtrial #ccr23 Was ‘usual care’ too good in these centres to show a difference. In which regions is early mobilisation less culturally embeded and the repeat of such a study may better demonstrate the presence or abscence of benefit?

#CCR23 #oxypicu Oxy-PICU Were screened patients more likely to get early echo/seen by cardiology to exclude congenital cardiac and allow inclusion - particulary those presenting a a sick/collapsed neonate? Knowing they are NOT cardiac is useful info ?especially in this group

Paul (@pauldagasman) 's Twitter Profile Photo

#TAMEtrial #ccr23 ‘Normocapnia’ group 35-45mmhg is 4.6-6kpa - is this not actually mild hypercapnia?? Intervention group 50-55 is 6.6-7.3kpa 4.6-6 would though i think reasonably represent ‘usual care’

Paul (@pauldagasman) 's Twitter Profile Photo

#ccr23 #tametrial ‘What went wrong?’ is i think a terrible view!! This is a useful result in what is accepted as a very well conducted trial and will change practice

Paul (@pauldagasman) 's Twitter Profile Photo

#CRYOSTAT2trial #ccr23 Does the increased mortality in early cryo (as part of MTP in intervention group) simply reflect the greater sense of urgency to activate and deliver the MTP in sicker bleeding patients - as said no comparitor at timepoints due to lack of placebo in cntl

Msg from ICU Dr "That’s bollocks, we continuously made those decisions. That’s why it was so fucking horrible. Who to admit? Who to escalate? Who to withdraw on? There’s a reason we never exceeded physical limits & it wasn’t that the virus magically knew how many beds we had" 1\2

Utterly shocking visualisation of what we know to be the terrible state of service here. NI seemed to decompensate much more dramically with covid compared to GB and clearly not recovering. Accountable leadership needed to get a grip! DUP Sinn Féin Ulster Unionist Party

My perspective on AAs; a 🧵 I was an ANP before medical school and am now a specialty doctor in anaesthetics. I work with 2 qualified AAs who are excellent, I am often asked for my opinion given my background, so here it is a long thread including my own story.

I understand this was not an easy decision to make. Junior doctors go into medicine to practise medicine, to save lives and continuously build on their skills in order to do so. When the system is broken, burnout is on the rise and more JDs leave, it is clear we need change.
