34 Degrees in the car today, left in the shade for 20 minutes. Heat stress is a real problem this year. Low intakes, ketosis, poor fertility, acidosis! Heat stress causes it all, always make sure cows have plenty of water in this weather and do what you can to minimise the effect

In a crisis there are always people willing to help if you just ask them. Don't suffer in silence. If the weather is pushing you and your farm to the brink please contact @forageaid or RABI - the Farmers Charity and put all that fundraising to good use #TeamDairy

Well worth a watch! A counterintuitive answer to the ubiquitous vegan rhetoric in the media on agriculture's role in climate change. #lovecows #feedtheworld youtu.be/vpTHi7O66pI

We have a Facebook page of hoof trimmers. Some of our trimmers are very good at displaying the foot anatomy. Regular hoof trimming keeps the feet well balanced. #Hooftrimming #farm365 #cows

Sometimes disruptions to milk flow result from the best of reasons! These ports are vital for monthly milk recording but a problem for the other 29 days of the month! #GoWithTheFlow 🥛

Winter cover crop (likely rye or triticale). Huge crop (hip height) and the best feed for cows bar none. Double cropping maize afterwards. Why is this not more popular in UK? Missed opportunity or unnecessary cost?

We have more horses than dairy cows in the US (9.5 vs 9 Million). Not to mention 163 Million dogs & cats consuming the equivalent amount of food as 70 Million people. Curious why cows but never horses, dogs or cats are in the news as an environmental issue. Food for thought.

The piece that was cut out of last night’s show about global meat production! Rotational grazing on grasslands, just like most UK farming, actually captures and stores carbon. Please retweet so that everyone can see the whole picture and make an informed choice about their diet

Safe to say the girls are working extremely hard right now. This is the average milk sold over the past 2 days for all cows and heifers in herd (246)2x milking, been over 40kg the past 3 weeks. Shame about milk price 😔

BC corn. Planted last week of May after a winter forage mix of winter wheat, rye and annual ryegrass. Only starting to tassle and its this tall. The cobs are coming in well above my head. Btw i'm 6ft 2in just for reference.

Here's what Olympic legend Laura Trott had to say about milk. Milk is key for me and was important throughout the Olympic process. I have a pint after training and another before bed. I've performed better on my bike as a result and I feel better in myself. #februdairy

This is one of our favourite cows here at Ridley Bank enjoying a nice scratch before milking. She'll be milked and get some tasty corn in exchange, then she'll go back to the shed where she has her own comfy bed to lie in along with fresh water and more tasty food. #februdairy

What a fantastic bed for cows! Suit the cows not the cubicle supplier. Lime/straw/water bedding looks good here! cowsignals.com/blog/if_you_wa…
