Complete surprise to have a Cuckoo at Skippool tonight. The bird sang briefly after flying over the river but a great patch and year tick ✅ Other highlights included 2 GWE, 45 Whimbrel and 3 Common terns Fylde Bird Club

Some great birds around RSPB Fairburn Ings and RSPB St Aidan’s on my now annual trip this morning. Highlights included 2 Garganey, Whinchat, 7 Black-necked grebes, 4 Bearded tits, Hobby, 2 Lesser Whitethroat, booming Bitterns everywhere and a drake Red-crested Pochard.

Great afternoon spent Lancashire Wildlife Trust Winmarleigh Moss. Highlights included 3 Ruff, 2 Marsh Harrier, Yellow Wagtail, Hobby and a singing Tree Pipit in a nearly identical location to the previous year. A real gem on the Fylde for anybody who hasn’t visited Fylde Bird Club

Brilliant day around Cumbria for bank holiday around a few sites with some of the guys yesterday. Highlights including Garden Warbler, Pied and Spotted Flycatcher, Redstart, Tree Pipit, Osprey, Cuckoo along with Grass Snakes, Slow Worms and a stunning Adder. Cumbria Bird Club

Some great local birds this morning. A large flock of 63 Arctic terns off Starr Gate, Spotted Flycatcher in Stanley park and my personal favourite, a Garden Warbler on patch in the Community Orchard on the pond trail. Fylde Bird Club

The Temminck’s Stint was still present WWT Martin Mere for its 9th day, showing distantly from the Tomlinson hide. My 190th species for Lancashire so far this year, target 200 is on!

Absolute scenes - Whilst doing a bat survey at Marton Mere this evening, we were interrupted by a singing Spotted Crake! Still in disbelief 😳 Joe Makepeace Fylde Bird Club

We very nearly called it quits on this mornings sea watch off Starr Gate, with very little of anything moving on the tide. That was until we got great views of a Black-Throated Diver ✅ shortly followed by a Black Guillemot ✅ both firsts for me here. Fylde Bird Club

My first bird in Suffolk yesterday - a life tick in the form of a Nightingale ✅ right by the entrance to RSPB Minsmere 🌍 yesterday. Amazing listening to it singing its heart out throughout the day.

Purple Heron just flown across from in front of the Bittern Hide at RSPB Minsmere 🌍 landing out of view. RareBirdAlertUK

One of my target species for the trip, great seeing and listening to 2 Turtle Doves around the Sizewell area this afternoon. Suffolk Bird Group

Had my best ever views of a Bittern this morning from Island Mere Hide, surreal to watch such a secretive bird. RSPB Minsmere 🌍
