Construction dust in Washington County can spread pathogens that cause valley fever. Spraying the dust with water could help, but that’s a limited resource in southwest Utah. buff.ly/NoppG6q

Over the weekend, I led a field trip spaning the Mancos Group across eastern Utah. Checkout our guidebook. giw.utahgeology.org/giw/index.php/… What a sketchy band of Mancos heavy weights...Oh, that's me... Sharing bunch of Will Elder's photos with a few of mine.

The Tooth Of The Matter: How Sharks Lost Half Their Ecological Roles forbes.com/sites/melissac… Shark ecosystems once boasted greater diversity in size, feeding strategies, and ecological roles. But that richness has been fading since the Miocene.

As an old scientist, I remember the heady excitement as the United States' move into the lead of global scientific research during the 50s and 60s. NOW, I mourn the self-inflicted death of US science. The fact that so few care is even more tragic.

Settling down to watch Walking With Dinosaurs 2025. Great article here on what we have learned in the 25 years (!) since the first series. With contributions from NHMdinolab, Dr Dave Hone and Jeremy Lockwood 🇺🇦. theguardian.com/science/2025/m…

Someday, we would love to have a large interpreted 3D model of "Jensen Ridge" & its Dalton Wells Dino Quarry outside the entrance of the Utahraptor State Park Visitor's Center. This is a low resolution model. skfb.ly/onFpE Fun to explore!

The slow degradation of the Cactus Park, CO Mymoorapelta skull from a complete specimen to a pile of rubble; an incredible tragedy centered around issuing a federal permit to the wrong person after turning down the Foster & I in ~2005! In the Jur. anky monograph without comment.

Long Walk sauropod #FossilFriday. The preped collectionhas been returned by DMNS to the @nhmu.bsky.social (owns site). We prepared some of this beautiful material (tough prep out of carbonate) in the 1990s (nice sauropod jaw; theropods too). Like to see this important collection.

We can't have clean energy because it will destroy the oil industry. We can't have healthcare because it will destroy the health insurance industry. We can't have peace because it will destroy the weapon industry. Capitalism built a system we can't afford to do the right thing.

Without El Niño, meteorologists rely on past climatic trends or short-term weather signals. While useful, it doesn’t give them the same info. buff.ly/mmysWPj

#DinosaurDay is an ideal time to order Christa Sadler's beautiful new book on Cedar Mt. Fm., "Dinosaur Frontier; Utah at the Dawn of the Cretaceous" this-earth.com/dinosaur-front… Not available on Amazon; Christa would lose money on every copy sold there, given her costs on this tome.
