I will be pushing for a moratorium on the construction of data centers that are powering the unregulated sprint to develop & deploy AI. The moratorium will give democracy a chance to catch up, and ensure that the benefits of technology work for all of us, not just the 1%.

It's amazing to see Sen. Bernie Sanders pushing for a pause on datacenter construction! This could be the first step towards a global AI pause. Right now, we need LESS compute in the world, not more!

Please enjoy my Christmas album of peaceful piano music, Noël. Written before generative AI took off, it's 100% human. (Yes, AI could pretty much do this now - but it stole my music, and that of countless others, to do so 🤷‍♂️) Human music ftw deezer.com/en/album/67940…

New copyright lawsuit just dropped. It's a class action lawsuit brought by independent musicians against AI music product Mureka. It alleges Mureka systematically copied & stored musicians' work to create a product that competes with them. "Unlike lawsuits brought by major

David Shapiro (L/0) "Creates immediate jobs" This is why we fucking lose. Near sightedeness. These data centers drive up costs, provide little to no permanent jobs for residents and increase health issues. All to proliferate a tech that will kill jobs, with no plan to replace income.

David Krueger (@davidskrueger) 's Twitter Profile Photo

When AI can do everything humans can, cheaper, there will be no more jobs. Stop comparing it to other technologies. It’s different. Stop talking about “retooling" and “augmentation”. Stop talking about UBI. And please, please please, stop talking about "post-scarcity".

Geoffrey Miller (@primalpoly) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Elon Musk AI and robots ain't gonna pay our mortgages or kids' medical bills. Nor will the AI industry. Nor will the government. 'Abundance' in the abstract sounds nice. But how exactly will that trickle down to ordinary working families impoverished by AI job losses?

AI used as much water this year as the entire bottled water industry and generated carbon emissions comparable to those of New York City, per the Verge.

Big Tech Oligarchs will spend hundreds of millions to defeat candidates who express concerns about AI and robotics. This is why we need to overturn Citizens United and move to public funding of elections. Billionaires cannot be allowed to buy elections.

Stop AI seeks to protect human life. Artificial intelligence is already harming us. Top scientists are increasingly warning against its dangers. Join us in choosing another path. It's not too late. We can build a better world for all humans, together.

Six authors are suing Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Meta, xAI and Perplexity for what they call “a straightforward and deliberate act of theft that constitutes copyright infringement.” The lawsuits over AI training show no signs of abating. aboutblaw.com/bkv0

It seems very possible that X is following OpenAI’s Sora playbook for the Grok image editing launch: 1. Release product with important guardrails missing 2. Engagement goes through the roof 3. Add guardrails later to avoid lawsuits / penalties If so, this is a major challenge

We're not anti-tech, we're anti-theft. If the future of “innovation” depends on stealing creators’ work without asking or paying, that’s not progress - it's stealing, and we shouldn’t accept it. #StealingIsntInnovation

I do *not* want an AI "summary" of an email, or a book, or a life. I do not want an AI summary of a winter sky, or my father's hands, or the hope in my child's eyes. I do not want an AI summary of the human heart, or the first little shiver of lust, or the long good work of love.
