Received an email about the ODSP increase this month.. Notice how they don't mention the amount ODSP is increasing to, but they tell you the amount ASCD is increasing to? They know it'd raise eyebrows... An increase of 2.8% is a max of $38 on ODSP, still legislated destitution.

$1368 + $38 (ODSP increase) + $200 (CDB) = $1,606 That's still legislated destitution even with both provincial and federal max amounts combined. It's more than before...but it is a spit in the face because we are still kept in destitution by legislation. It's BS

It costs BILLIONS $$ more to keep people in legislated destitution vs providing proper levels of support. If the all mighty dollar is the measure of “valuable” for some, it is odd then that there is such disdain for helping others when it would actually SAVE $$.

There is no moral reason that Disability support programs should be below an amount equal to full-time hours at minimum wage. For reference, ODSP is less than half of the amount of minimum wage ($1,368 v. $2,866). Food banks should be for short term temporary issues, if ODSP is so little that people are structurally forced to rely upon food banks, that is objectively evil.
