‘Our public universities have become corporatised, governed from behind closed doors by people with little connection to the daily realities of staff and students. The consequences have been catastrophic.’ Alison Barnes at today’s Senate Inquiry into university governance.

Dr Liz Allen’s evidence today was heartbreaking, brave and infuriating. This is the devastating personal toll of broken governance. Julie Bishop must resign immediately or be sacked. abc.net.au/news/2025-08-1…

Sometimes it takes an act of extraordinary courage to expose and bring down those who rule through fear and intimidation. I hope NTEU member Liz Allen's brave and harrowing testimony today is the start of such a process. abc.net.au/news/2025-08-1… via ABC Australia

TEQSA has now written to the ANU advising its “investigation had been expanded to include ‘broader risks to compliance’ including the culture of the ANU Council and executive leadership, and oversight of its financial position”. Good. abc.net.au/news/2025-08-1…

UTS comrades face another round of ill considered job cuts as UTS management follow same play book as other unis = cut jobs of those NOT responsible for 💰💰mismanagement 😡 stay 💪 comrades we stand with you 💜

Other unis should be watching the ANU situation & TEQSA very carefully. As NTEU made clear at first senate hearing & previously, these behaviours are not isolated to one University.

Sadly, Jason Clare MP is correct. University leaders have cost universities a lot of support through poor governance and leadership. NTEU loves universities, because our members *are* universities. University leaders are letting us all down. afr.com/politics/feder…

Stephen Matchett doesn't miss with this take in Future Campus. And with many including Mehreen Faruqi and David Pocock backing calls for ourANU leadership to go, keep watching this space. NTEU members want new leadership.
