Mayor Wheeler's chief of staff, Bobby Lee, in May requested a $40k-50k grant from the city's Arts Office for his ex-girlfriend's niece. He did so after becoming irate that a mural of a water tiger created by the teen had been removed w/o his permission. wweek.com/news/2024/07/1…

I have one, simple basic question for local TV news, local newspapers, network news, and shows like Today and GMA. Why won’t you show things like this? Why do you sanewash this maniac and cover for him?

Running for office as a woman of color, and particularly as a progressive, comes with unique challenges. The barriers can feel insurmountable, but thanks to Oregon Futures Lab, many of us have found a path forward. 🌻 Thank you OFL for the opportunity to speak at the annual gala!

Setting aside the Trumpian rhetoric here, it's just not a claim supported by the facts. Virtually all in and out county movers are producers. The people leaving who are "fleeing" taxes are households who make an Adj Gross Income of $104k, well below the preschool tax burden. 1/n

I felt really strongly about this answer. And reading through some of the other candidates' answers I'm concerned that we are truly missing the big picture here. Everyday Portlanders understand it's cruel and irresponsible to jail homeless people before providing real options.

Funding police will only continue to create a distance in accessible healthcare and housing… a political promise that has a lot of mileage. The vibrancy of Portland is only credit to its communities and its organizers. This city is fucked if these are the options.

Home Depot was ripping off customers. Employers steal $50 billion in wages from workers each year. Corporations are price gouging families for essentials. This is the “rising crime” that’s *actually happening* that we should be focused on.
