Many thanks to Councillor Keith Witham of Surrey County Council Surrey County Council News and Councillor Bob Hutton of Normandy Parish Council Normandy PC for encouraging us to seek grant support so we can go on providing a service to local residents. Details here: normandyag.org.uk

We have set up a Petition to urge Guildford Borough Council to act with jurgency by serving an Article 4 Direction on this site: democracy.guildford.gov.uk/mgEPetitionLis… Please sign to show your support! Sadly, there is further evidence of the degradation of the site today: see image.

Success! For now at any rate: Guildford Borough Council has issued a temporary Article 4 Direction on the land at Bailes Lane that was the subject of our Petition. We must now ensure it becomes permanent. More on our website here: normandyag.org.uk/news/603-baile… Thanks the 100 who have signed so far!

Here we go again... An enormous housing development that would have eliminated the green space at the heart of #Normandy, proposed in 2016 but eventually removed from the Guildford Borough Council Local Plan, is back in prospect. For full details visit our website: normandyag.org.uk/red-alert

Important post from Normandy PC about the prospective major housing development in Normandy and the process that will unfold over the next few months. Join our mailing list to stay informed and know how to object! facebook.com/groups/3657719…

Important opportunity to help save the Green Belt: Petition organised by CPRE Hertfordshire to get the Government to amend the definition of 'Grey Belt' in the #NPPF 100,000 signatures means it will have to be considered for debate in Parliament - please sign! petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7255…

Very good article in the The Guildford Dragon NEWS about the CPRE The countryside charity Petition - and a couple of letters in response. One of the latter letters (by NAG), with links to the other two pieces, is here: guildford-dragon.com/letter-we-need…

Good The Guildford Dragon NEWS letter on how developers can evade their commitments post planning approval. A plea to decision-makers: "When the planning balance rests on undeliverable claims, refusal is not a gamble — it is sound and responsible governance." guildford-dragon.com/letter-ash-m...

Thanks, SURREY LIVE NEWS for featuring this story. "Filling [the field in] with buildings will fundamentally and irrevocably change the nature of our community and our environment." Several fields, actually: it's a 60 hectare site! getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-ne…

Thanks, That's TV Surrey, for highlighting this issue. The release of Green Belt land should be strategic, not opportunistic, and it shouldn't be driven by where a large developer just happens to have an interest. This proposal would destroy a precious habitat for no good reason.
