As I celebrated my daughter’s bday, I thought about #AjikeOwens. A Black mom was shot and killed for simply knocking on a neighbor’s door. Four children are now left without a mother. They will never get to celebrate their birthdays with her. This is heartbreaking & unjust!

This group of amazing human beings who committed a year (some two) to serve our Providence Public Schools students graduated. Congratulations to City Year Providence AmeriCorps members. Thank you for your service and your commitment to transforming lives. Also, I got my red jacket!

Today, stuck in traffic for 3 agonizing hours just to grab rubber bands for my kid's braces. All while feeling sick, trying to get to an appointment, and my passenger? Well, totally unbothered by the I-195 traffic Chaos. Needless to say, I never made it to my appointment.

I’m honored to be in Montgomery, alongside leaders from #RI and across the nation, as we embark on our journey as #INP 2024-25 Black Leadership Institute Fellows. Over the next 18 months, we’ll explore strategies to inspire change and positively impact our communities. #INPBLI

Last week, I attended the RI Days in DC event hosted by Reps. Gabe Amo and Seth Magaziner. This event brought together leaders to discuss important topics that impact our communities, including education. Thanks to our congressional delegates for organizing this amazing event.

On Tuesday, I had the privilege of attending the #FriendsOfService Awards, where Senator Jack Reed was inducted into the National Service Hall of Fame. I'm grateful to the Senator for his dedication to City Year Providence, and thank Voices for National Service for hosting an inspiring event.
