A grumpy old man who finds living in modern England incredibly frustrating. All I really want to do is watch birds and football!

Dear Tory councillors, It was the Conservative government who sent asylum seekers to hotels. We all said no! Process their claims properly. don't house them here for months. But Conservatives cut the civil service staff so the numbers awaiting decisions increased exponentially.

A reminder: Asylum seekers are in hotels because of a huge backlog the gov't must work through. Robert Jenrick - now, bursting with creative solutions - processed applications slowly *on purpose* as a deterrent. Here he is, as Immigration Minister two years ago, saying it. ~AA

Tories on asylum: 1. Don't process claims. 2. Create backlog. 3. Use hotels due to overcrowding. 4. Spend ยฃ700m on Rwanda gimmick. 5. Join protests outside hotels. 6. Claim victory.

In case you didn't know it was March 2020 when Priti Patel & Inmigration Minister Chris Philp issued the first contracts to hotels to house asylum seekers. At the same time these hotels were included in the Covid biz supports including 100% biz rate relief. Lucky beggars eh?

Yaxley-lennon accuses a grandfather playing with his grandkids of being a paedophile. Jenrick applauds the closing down of an asylum hotel that HE opened. Farage incites more riots. Still some people support these liars and Charlatans.

Pride in my country isn't represented by a flag. It's in people's compassion and empathy, their skill and invention, their love and generosity, their decency and fairness, their integrity and steadfastness, their wit and wisdom. I might write that on a traffic island.

Happy, Lucy Connolly Cottage Industry day to those who celebrate. Iโ€™m in Scotland and I could hear Alison Pearsonโ€™s delirious whoops of delight from here. Ultra-Grift incoming.

Once more for the dimwits at the back: a) Lucy Connolly pleaded guilty. b) She was convicted under legislation introduced under Thatcher. c) She was sentenced under guidance brought in under Boris Johnson. d) fuck off.

To be fair to Robert Jenrick the original image was fake. Here is the original of him taking the flag down because it was making local brown kids feel happy. #flagshaggers
