As we enter into the competition phase of the season, or “in season” phase, let’s all remember it’s easy to be a great teammate when things are going well. It’s more telling of who you are when you’re a great teammate when things aren’t perfect. Let’s get it!

Athletics! Provides opportunity for young men and women opportunity to compete, grow, get education, travel country/world. We get to see how discipline, accountability, ownership, teamwork + a process oriented approach lead to success academically, “athletically”, + socially!

Opportunity rarely presents itself immediately as- dream job, dream school, perfect offer, etc. The best things in life often times present themselves as a foot in the door ➡️betting on yourself ➡️ sacrifice + putting in extraordinary effort ➡️ consistency & relentlessness.

2024-2025 Feel in baseball- Competitive, grit, toughness, composure, disciplined mentality, maturity, patience, communicator, and deep baseball IQ - on the ledger for me. Extra points- Sacrifice, Servant leader. I’m sure there’s more but that’s a relatively broad spectrum.

We can talk biomechanics. Talk pitch selection. Talk about swing decisions. Talk daily habits/routines. Talk mental game. Talk motor preferences. Nothing trumps THE WORK. Proprioception. Body awareness. Consistency matters, trust the process. 💯

To be honest MLB players foul off some crazy pitches without breaking their bat. Bat to ball = unreal!! 🤯 Most of us would be 6-7 bats deep by the 8th inning lol.

Iron sharpens iron. Toughness, grit, competitiveness, character, values. Talent only beats those attributes so long. Luck runs out. Especially, in sports- rubber meets road & you have to compete in everything you do! Everyone has a second gear, hard to tap into but it’s there.

Some may disagree- I believe a key to fixing portal problem- Find school before u play summerball half-way across country, because: 1. See campus, community, resources is important. 2. Meet coaching staff 3. Know role you’re competing for. Opportunity. Staff. Environment.
