UPDATE: Normal HegartyMaths day: 200,000 sessions, yesterday nearly 800,000! We've made lots of extra changes yesterday + overnight. We're monitoring the platform really closely to ensure we can support all those schools and students. Good luck today!

We have been informed some parents have received an email stating: ‘As schools will be closing, if you're entitled to free school meals, please send your bank details and we'll make sure you're supported’. This is a scam email - do not respond, and delete immediately.

Not looking good in UK or US. If we all slightly change our behaviour then avoids more drastic restrictions. Get outside, avoid indoor/crowded/unventilated places, keep distance & reduce number of contacts. Virus spreads with droplets from infected person breathing/speaking.

I believe there will be vaccines & treatments available with 6mths which will change what is possible. That is why I believe need to reduce transmission now, keep schools open, reduce pressure on the NHS & save lives. It is a choice but one we need to be honest & transparent about

“It still leaves the problem of Johnson’s manner – his unshakable habit of crass levity. Even in the midst of national tragedy he adopts the sombre pose awkwardly, like a football mascot observing the minute’s silence on Remembrance Sunday.”

NEW: a common response to reports of hospitals struggling this winter is "it’s no different to a bad flu season!" I’ve tracked down historical data on flu ICU admissions, including winter 2017-18, a record high. Here’s how England’s Covid winter compares to a bad flu season 📹
