Boris Johnson must resign. He broke the law and repeatedly lied to parliament about it. The basic values of integrity and decency - essential to the proper working of any parliamentary democracy - demand that he go. And he should take his out of touch chancellor with him.

The key point is not that Boris Johnson received a penalty notice. The key point is that the fine proves he has repeatedly lied to parliament about his actions during COVID. Democracy requires - for voting for accountability - leaders who tell the truth. He must go.

Not a surprise BBC News (UK). Stools taken from checkout staff at Tesco Holloway Rd branch, making them stand for hours. Staff too afraid of losing jobs to campaign. No response from Tesco. They apparently don't care.
