Tanzania has declared a national state of emergency due to severe floods in Pwani (Rufiji + Kibiti districts) and Morogoro (Kilombero district). Over 10,000 families have been displaced & more than 8,000 homes damaged. Tanzania Red Cross Society is responding, supporting affected families.
“Only boats are working in the flooded areas. It took four hours to reach a marooned village and the scenes are devastating,” Daniel Mutinda, @IFRC Disaster & Climate Crises Delegate. He's in Tanzania assessing the severe floods with Tanzania Red Cross Society. Over 85,000 people are displaced.
"We found a bridge we had used in the morning heading for an assessment damaged and we had to wait for hours as the community tried to fix it," Matt Baden, IFRC In-Country Ops Manager. Tanzania Red Cross Society has set up 9 camps to support families affected by the #Tanzania flooding.
