"If we want to give our students the same opportunities as those students that have access to the internet and devices at home, then we need to think outside the box... We cannot sit around and wait for our community to catch up with the digital age." - Sam Gibson

♥️Students were bullied because of dirty clothes. Washing machines in the locker room will change that. nj.com/essex/index.ss…

Quickwrites are discussion starters, whether they are the st idea or a jumping off point of someone else’s ideas. #TLC1819

Nicholas Winton saved 669 Jewish children from the Nazis and told no one. He kept it secret for 50 years. In 1988, while sitting in a TV audience, he was surprised by the very children he rescued, now grown adults.

A1 When our teachers refuse to give up on a child no matter how many mistakes that child has made. The Ts are persistent in pushing that child to do better. I'm fortunate to observe this every day at BH:) #bhmschat

#bhmschat Empathy is all about how we treat our students on a daily basis. If we always assume that they are in need of our sympathetic side, then we will always be showing them empathy.

Little things like decorating lockers, inviting kids who are left our to sit at lunch tables, getting people involved in games outside. These things definitely help promote a culture of caring. #bhmschat

#bhmschat In my class, students will jump in and assist others when they are struggling with a concept or trying to go outside of their comfort zone. It's a good way to see empathy in action.

#bhmschat I think the best way to do this is to create opportunities for students to step up and show that they care. If you don't give them the chance to demonstrate caring, it will be difficult to build that culture.
