The proportion of A level grades at grade A and above has seen a rise at private schools this year more than double any type of state school, @Ofqual data reveals. #AlevelResults #alevels2020 tes.com/news/A-levels-…

This. The Government expect teachers to risk their lives, deliver meals, do social work, help key workers' kids through lockdown, but when it comes to their judgement, politicians think they know better. You want teachers to do their job? Then treat them like professionals.

Teachers didn’t lie in their predictions for A’ levels. I know from experience, what the child is capable of doesn’t always happen. In SATs we may have 90% in a year of children capable of getting the expected. Depending on a range of factors they may or not get it on the day...

@JamesEYFS Here we go, blame teachers for using the system given to them by the government to use. I seem to recall this technique was deployed back in July over the opening schools fiasco.

Where is the algorithm? It should be published and accountable to scientific scrutiny. A consequence of the pandemic, independent scientists should review this algorithm that has caused misery for so many young people. Publish it. Sir Gavin Williamson CBE MP

Is it really too much to suggest that the judgements of those who have worked with students, day in, day out, may be more accurate than an algorithm, asks Gerry Robinson tes.com/news/what-if-t…

Strange that Ofqual did not mention the inbuilt advantage its small group #AlevelResults policy gave private schools in its technical report or equalities statement, despite publishing the numerical proof. Did it really not spot it? Or was it just hoping no one would notice?

So the Department for Education is happy to pump millions into Oak National Academy but won’t fund the devices disadvantaged children need to access the lessons. So the original investment yet again benefits the relatively well off and can make no difference what so ever for many most in need.

At no point does anyone seem to ask, could it be that the system isn't working? Might behaviour be feedback on an education which isn't developmentally informed? Might we need to rethink how to engage kids in learning? No, the answer is more control. schoolsweek.co.uk/wake-up-call-f…

After the coma I was in a geriatric ward. Some of the agency night nurses seemed irritated. One wouldn't let me have the buzzer. One got cross when I fell out of bed. I was lonely and called home. Emma couldn't come in. At least you, Boris were having parties though. That's good
