At the Jersey Language Policy Conference, The Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture, Deputy Kirsten Morel spoke about the importance of Jèrriais to Jersey's national identity. He said: "I will be hugely supportive of Jèrriais as long as I am Minister."

Speaking at the #languageconference, Professor Mari Jones (@MariCatrinJones) explains that 229 languages have gone extinct in the past few decades, including Auregnais, the native language of Alderney. Prof Jones adds there are endangered languages in every part of the globe.
