Half-price public transport fares is being extended to 24 and 25 year olds in #Budget2024🥳 In 2021, the Greens cut the cost of public transport by 20% for everyone and by a further 50% for young adults up to 23 years old. This will save young people hundreds of euro every year.

To #RestoreNature we need to invest like never before in National Parks and Wildlife Service, our national parks, protected habitats, water quality and wildlife. Today’s #budgetfornature allows us to do that, with a €3bn Climate & Nature Fund and a €166m package for Heritage including 👇 #Budget2024

🦅 A 28% increase in funding for National Parks and Wildlife Service, which has risen under my watch from €28m p/a in 2020 to €67.5m for 2024. That’s €€ to expand and enhance our national parks, bring back lost species, get more rangers on the ground, and tackle wildlife crime and invasive species.

💧 An 11.5% increase in funding for water quality, investing in clean, free-flowing rivers by removing man-made barriers and creating additional posts for inspectors to work with our farmers to support better management of nitrates on farms.

This is in addition to an unprecedented €3.15 billion Climate & Nature Fund to enable government, state bodies, communities, farmers, fishers and foresters to deliver action for healthy nature, clean water and climate resilience at a pace and scale never before seen in Ireland.
